Residencies at CCMIX
:
The CCMIX offers compositional residencies in our studios to experienced composers who propose projects that are realizable with the tools that we have available. For example, the UPIC, which was the initial reason for the existence of our center, is still available but other tools such as KYMA or Max MSP are equally available. Collaboration between the composer and the musical assistant permits the development of tools that are programmed to respond to the individual needs of each artist. Each artist who wishes to have a residency at CCMIX is asked to send a dossier that includes an application form (downloadable) as well as a biography / resume accompanied by representative recordings and scores.

Otto Laske
:
Private lessons, personal coaching, or workshops on creativity. Can travel to your location (if expenses are paid) or consult via telephone and email in English, German, and French. Interested in CREATIVITY, in contrast to skill and competence, Laske has formulated a theory of music around notions of the compositional process, rather than "pieces" as external artifacts. Otto invites artist colleagues of any age who want to benefit from his artistic experience in music and poetry, and his expertise in algorithmic composition working with pre-computed scores. In his coaching, he emphasizes what an artist is developmentally ready for, and encourages a higher level of self-awareness of the artist's own process. He writes, "As I know from personal experience of being a 'pioneer,' it is hard always to take responsibility for the quality of one's life, there being so many hindrances, including internal ones (e.g., obsession with work)."
