Supervising sound designer Claude Letessier and sound designer Michael Baird brought Kyma with them to Bangkok for 6 months of sound designing on the new Wong Kar Wai film: 2046. Letessier and Baird used Kyma primarily for generating backgrounds, moods, and atmospheres to set the tone for this sci-fi/romantic/drama dealing with the ideas of time, changelessness, and a train that can transport you to the year 2046 (the year in which, it is rumored, that change no longer occurs. But this cannot be verified since no one has ever come back from there... until the main character of this movie decides to return to the year 1966). Describing their use of Kyma, Letessier writes, "It truly inspired us and brought our craft to the next level!" 2046 had its world premiere at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival and will be released in the UK in October.
