The London College of Music and Media at Thames Valley University are pleased to announce the first annual Modular 2002 event to be held in London on the 27th and 28th of June 2002.

The event celebrates the culture behind digital modular synthesiser and processing systems. It will include a day of intensive workshops and seminars and an evening concert featuring important international artists of electronic music. Systems in focus will include Nord Modular, Csound, Max/Msp, Sync Modular, Reaktor, Modular 3, VAZ Modular, Buzz, CPS, Kyma, and Tassman.

Workshops and seminars will be given by LCM2 staff and international master synthesists from around the world. These include:

Nord Modular: Power emulation of analogue synthesisers / Rob Hordjyk
Csound/ Sync Modular: Physical Modelling /Josep Comajuncosas
Kyma Kapibarra: Designing and composing music using the Kyma System /Joker Nies
Max/Msp: Basic VST plugins construction using Max/Msp /Per Villez / LCM

The concert will feature works by dutch artist Roland Kuit who will be using many fully expanded Nord Modulars systems. Included in the concert program is German artist Joker Nies who will be performing using the state of the art Kyma Kapibarra and Max/ Msp systems. These will be performed using 5.1 surround systems for a totally immersive experience. There will be a range of styles including ambient, experimental/electro-acoustic and dance.

There will also be an opportunity to experience some unique interactive installations created using Max/Msp and computer animation works made at LCM2.

Entrance to the workshops and seminars events costs £25.00 / £19.00conc
Entrance to the Modular Concert is £5/£3.50 (Free to Worksho/Seminar entrants

(Entrance to the Modular Concert is £5/£3.50 (Free to Fridays workshop and seminar participants). The concert will be in 5.1 surround

Friday 28th (Open Public Workshops)

These Workshops are for people who would like to learn more about sound creation and manipulation using the systems featured. Everybody is welcome. Places however will be limited.
Entrance to the workshops and seminars events costs £25.00 (40 Euros) / £19.00(30 Euro) concessions (Student Card/Unemployed)
