Problem

I ve extended the 8 step sequencer to a 16, 32 and 64 step. Everything works as it should but step 10 although it plays on all different versions is missing from the VCS as a square that you can check or uncheck. Furthermore the slider that controls the pitch of step 10 exists on the VCS. Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong?

Solution

Can you double-check that you named the control !sw10? We just tried extending the sequencer ourselves and everything worked well.

Another thing you could try is to switch off all steps and turn on exactly one step at a time to make sure that you hear that step being played (and no others). This could tell you if there is a missing or duplicated control.

Attached is an example. I can't find what is it wrong! please help!

It turns out that !Pan and !sw10 are both mapped to continuous controller 10 in the default Global Map:

!Pan is: (`MIDIController10 displayAs: #fader).
...
!sw10 is: (`MIDIController10 displayAs: #toggle).

Since the Sound is using both !Pan and !sw10, Kyma has to choose one of these mappings to use, and, in this case, has chosen !Pan over !sw10.

The easiest way to fix this is to use a Global Map (either a new one you create or one of the example ones) that does maps these controls to different MIDI controllers. I was able to get your Sound to work by using Choose global map... from the File menu, and selecting kymaglobal.map from the Global Maps folder within the Kyma folder. The next time you play your Sound it will have separate !Pan and !sw10 controls.
